Leach Pottery

Leach Pottery

Founded in 1920 by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, the Leach Pottery is probably the most famous and certainly the most influential studio pottery in the world. Today the Leach Pottery is a living tribute to Bernard Leach and his legacy.

Visitors to the Pottery can see the original workshops and kiln shed, including the three-chambered Japanese climbing kiln, built in 1923. Our museum displays celebrate the life of Bernard Leach and his fellow craftsmen and the international legacy of the Leach Pottery. Our contemporary tableware is made in stoneware and soda-fired on site by our team of residents potters. The gallery shop sells our tableware range along with work from selected potters.
