Liskeard and District Museum

Liskeard is an ancient Cornish town with a fantastic museum. This year explore the use of tin in everyday life with the 'Tin, Toys and Tales' exhibition.

See iconic toys from the past such as James Bond's Golden Gun and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Learn about the history of the area and the many trades and crafts which flourished in the past. The museum is part of the World Heritage Site for Mining. Displays include mining and geological artefacts. Explore the development of the town from Mesolithic settlers to the present time.. from the Iron Age to the Plastic Age!

    From 1700 to 1914, the metal mining industry played a vital role in transforming our way of life. Tin and lead are just two of the minerals which were mined in this area.

  • Mining and Geology

    Visit the Daniel Gumb Room to see the story of the tin, silver copper and other amazing minerals

  • Local People

    Explore local characters and trades from the past. Learn about Emily Hobhouse who changed the lives of many during the Boer War.

  • The problem with plastic

    Learn about the impact of plastic on our environment in this exciting new exhibition

  • Tin Toys

    Toys were not always made of plastic. See fantastic examples from the history of toys.

Open Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm and Saturday 10am - 1pm
