Shipwreck Treasure Museum

Is it gold? Is it adventure? Is it the find, or the journey it took to get there? A world of discovery is waiting, hauled up from beneath the waves or still dwelling underground: come exploring with us in a museum packed to the rafters. Seek out the objects that speak to you and discover the divers who first brought them all back to the surface.

Seek out stories to send shivers down your spine in the Shipwreck Treasure Museum or uncover the journeys that have taken Charlestown from clay carts to open ocean to silver screen and beyond, in our tunnels. Weave your way through 8,000 finds from over a hundred wrecks. See the only intact barrel of coins ever recovered from a wreck, feel the weight of a cannon ball and imagine the devastation it wrought in battle at sea.

Arriving By Car
It is easy to travel to the Shipwreck Treasure Museum by car, however the historic port can become busy during the summer months, therefore we recommend arriving early to avoid traffic. From the A30 follow directions to St Austell, and you’ll find Charlestown is well signposted from here. We recommend parking in the Charlestown Car Park (charges apply) which is visible from the Shipwreck Treasure Museum and just a short walk away past the beautiful views of the historic harbour.
