A popular exhibition that has again been changed and added too. This shows a wide variety of camera's and viewing devices over 100 years from the late 19th century. Many visitors remember the cameras their parents used and children marvel at the way that photographs were taken and showed in the time before the mobile phone. The museum has some cameras and items that children can handle. Here we see just some of the cameras that are available to see in the exhibition.

The Golf Montauk was manufactured from approximately 1895 to 1901. Its construction includes mahogany body, brass hardware and seal gain leather covering. Focusing was accomplished with the aid of a rack and pinion mechanism found on more expensive models. Additional features included rising and falling front, focusing scale, reversible finder, ground glass with a viewing door. Fitted with the Presto shutter with automatic speed regulator in its Iris diaphragm, double rapid rectilinear lens, corrected for colour or sharpness of the image. This camera accommodated the Gennert bicycle clap for either tripod or hand camera photos. Advertised as an inexpensive and compact 4 x 5 camera, it was being offered in 1899 for $18.00.
