3D Cornish Costume Trail

Museum of Cornish Life

Helston

17 May 2021 - 17 December 2021

The Museum of Cornish Life, based in Helston, is a treasure trove of artefacts and curiosities providing a unique look at Cornish life through the years.

The museum is housed in the town’s historic Market Buildings and contains thousands of objects that will keep you fascinated and entertained. The museum houses one of the largest social history collections in the South West, and ranges from archaeological evidence of the earliest settlers to the Lizard Peninsula, to a fully stocked 1950s kitchen.

This year, they've created a pop-up 3D costume trail - a playful way to look closer at the significance of clothing in history. Visitors use their phone to take a unique look at clothing and costume. There are posters located around the museum, each with a QR code. Scan the code with the camera on your phone, using a QR reader app. Follow the link to find out more about Cornish clothing and the heritage of each artefact.

Use one finger to rotate the item of clothing and two to magnify it, allowing you to examine each item of clothing in minute detail. You'll be able to see items of costume that are too delicate to display in extreme close up, and examine the parts of the costume usually hidden from view.
