Big Give Christmas Challenge
Newlyn Art Gallery

Our Big Give Christmas Challenge raised the sum of £3,580 towards the creation of a Creative Placement Scheme, offering meaningful, paid work experience to young people in the gallery.

Many thanks to all our supporters, pledgers and donors, who managed to navigate the donation process. Your support will allow us to bring in our first intern spring 2014 to work with curation, education, technical or administrative staff as appropriate. We hope to establish the programme as a permanent offer in the gallery.

Thanks also to the Helen Hamlyn Trust, our Charity Champion, who matched the donated funds, thereby doubling their value to us. We are looking for an ongoing sponsor to support the individual interns, and we would be delighted to talk to local businesses who may wish to work with us.

I really enjoyed working at The Exchange this week. I feel honoured that you’ve been able to take me on board. By having this experience it’s given me more insight into what I’d like to do in my future career.”

A paid internship for a number of months is an amazing opportunity. The experience would be very useful for my career development with contemporary crafts as it would be a good opportunity to work more with the gallery and to work on a project separate from University.”
