New cycle rack designed by Jonty Lees
It seems fitting that artist Jonty Lees should design our fantastic new bicycle rack. Lees’ long association with the gallery began in 2002 when he created a sculptural velodrome as part of Transition 3. Since then much of his work has revolved around bikes and cycling, including works he created as part of his Tate St Ives residency. Lees new bicycle rack marks the completion of the gallery’s regeneration of the front garden to create a new community space to be used by both gallery visitors and residents. Using powder-coated metal Lees has created a beautiful, yet functional sculpture which will bring colour to the garden as well as providing parking for bikes.
