Volunteer Celebration
St Agnes Museum
By: Clare Murton, Hon Curator
Added: 09 November 2013
Today was a very busy day in St Agnes as a wartime 40s and 50s revival kept the parishioners entertained. Volunteers in the war were recognised, as Land Girls and Air Raid Wardens etc. were celebrated in style.
The Museum had its own annual volunteers' recognition day as stewards and other volunteers gathered at the Museum for coffee, tea and cakes, giving the Chairman and Committee a chance to thank them all for the amazing work they do at this small museum every year.
This year a long standing volunteer, Isobel Burrows, was presented with a beautiful autumnal bunch of flowers to thank her for 18 years co-ordinating the Stewards Rota, ensuring that we could stay open to the public every single day from Good Friday to November. What an incredible dedication to duty! No doubt this small token of thanks will be formalised at the AGM in February 2014.
Thank goodness, Isobel will continue to be a committee member and to be a steward.
